Did you miss me?
Mood: Lazy (is that a mood?) Song: That new one by the Dixie Chicks... stupid radio. So now that I am refreshed, perhaps I can give you a more proper post. It's hard to imagine I was on the computer 12 hours ago. I woke up at 10:30am this morning, which isn't a time I usually wake up at.
So, what did I get for Christmas 2006? When I woke up on Christmas morning, and took a glance at the shapes of the gifts by the tree, I immedietely thought, "Well, I may not have gotten what I wanted, but it's okay." I did want, if you were wondering, an acoustic guitar.
What I did get was my very own hairdryer (finally), this thing with hooks on it for my jewellery and a necklace, a bunch of sweets, the final book of the Series of Unfortunate Events to complete my collection, a toque, THE AMAZING RACE DVD/BOARD GAME, a Tweety Mug, and... a puzzle that my sister made that I had to put together. It read something lame like "G is for girl, G is for Grass" or something like that. And I was thinking "Hee, G is for Gerard." Until the end of the note said to go downstairs, and sure enough, there is a guitar case waiting for me. Mom said the shape would have given it away if she put it under the tree. I can't say I was overly thrilled, but I did appreciate that she got something I had asked for. Later that day I tried it; I also got a book/CD/DVD that teaches guitar basics. Turns out it may be difficult to play with my insanely long fingernails after all. I didn't think it would be a problem, but when switching notes and chords, my nails often get in the way of the string beside the one I intend to push down, and the other string gets muted. Aww well. I'll trim my nails then. I asked for this gift, and I'm determined to learn it, and hopefully really, really enjoy it.
Oh yeah, mom also got the family a brand new HP printer (thank god!) as well as a portable DVD player. I'm really proud of her, she said she got it cheap but it's very good quality and has 30 built-in games on it! Neat. On Boxing Day, my family and I set out to Edmonton for our 3-day vacation. I was kind of dissapointed, I ended up shopping at stores in West Ed Mall that didn't have Boxing Day sales, and it was a bummer. Wednesday was fun. We went to Galaxy Land early in the morning, so it wasn't busy - no line-ups. I was amazed how small it looked to me. I guess when I always went there as a little kid, it all seemed so huge. But Galaxy Land seemed so small this time. Hey, it's almost been six years. Then the Water Park. Wow, that was fun! I went on four slides in total, even some advanced ones. Then that night we ate dinner at my cousin's house and my aunt was visiting. It was very good, and the gift they gave me was a $20 gift card for HMV. The conversations at the table were really interesting; my cousin is fluent in both French and English, her husband only knows English and my aunt only speaks French. So here we have a jumble of two languages into one conversation. My parents jumped between the languages, and overall it was fascinating to listen too. I'm also happy I understood most of the French and can keep building on those skills even if I'm not in French class. We woke up early the next morning, because the plan was to go to the mall right when it opened for two hours to finish our shopping (because Boxing Day was SUPER busy.) What we ended up doing was taking our time, and my dad began saying at breakfast that he felt really guilty that now we are in Edmonton, and my aunt is visiting all the way from Quebec, and the last time we saw her was five years ago. In the end, my dad decided to stay another day. We got an extra hour at the mall, not that I spent all my money, and we spent the night at my cousin's. So that was interesting. This trip was supposed to be a huge shopping spree for me, because I had saved up over five hundred dollars. I spent just over two hundred instead. So I guess I'll have a lot of money for Vancouver when I go there on the band trip...
Wow, that's a lot of typing. Nothing much happened since then; I've been sleeping in and sitting on my butt all day. But like I said, I hope to visit Sarah and finally see her house on Wednesday.
It's year 2007 and I still don't have any resolutions... not that I'd fulfill them anyway. Maybe see MCR in concert. There, that's a good one. If they get up here to Canada, that is. This month they are starting a tour in the US with Rise Against as their opening act... *shudders*. I just... dislike that band. But after that tour, apperently, Muse will be opening for them! That'd be nice to see, and I'm hoping that tour includes Canada.
I think that makes a sufficient second post. If you're wondering on how to post a comment, you have to click on "Flight Log" which is my posts, but you'll see beside the title this time that there is a link to post comments. Sorry, this template did not include a commenting feature and that's the best I could do. And comments are really, really appreciated!
